The DLC-12 OpenECU is a rugged driveline controller designed to support a wide range of BLDC control applications, including transmission control, thermal management, differential control, pantograph operation, and medical applications such as powered wheelchairs and adjustable beds. Developed according to ISO 26262 ASIL C for BLDC motor position it satisfies high levels of functional safety and reliability. Additionally it was developed according to ISO21434 with integrated HSM(I) to support latest cybersecurity requirements. The user-friendly OpenECU™ Simulink application interface can be used to program the DLC-12, making it well suited as a rapid prototyping platform that can be carried through to volume production.
The powerful Infineon Aurix TC364 microcontroller running at 300 MHz provides the for sophisticated motor control algorithms, rationality checking, and system safety monitoring. Inputs are highly configurable, and unused output channels can have their diagnostic signals repurposed as inputs, providing flexible I/O allocation to suit a wide range of applications. The DLC-12 being developed in accordance with ISO 21434 it incorporates Secure Boot, Code Signing, HSM Secure Firmware Update, Secure Keystore, Security Access, and Secure Logging providing the foundation for vehicle manufacturers to meet UN R155 and R156 cybersecurity requirements.
The DLC-12 is programmed using MATLAB/Simulink tools that significantly speed up algorithm development through automatic software integration and code generation, with a C-code development environment also available. Developers can quickly test application software using simulations and automated testing, and the controller supports common calibration tools including ATI Vision and Vector CANape via CCP, as well as Dana's OpenECU Calibrator™. Dana's systems, controls and software engineers are available to support application implementations from prototype to production.
